Award from Institute of National Importance

Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha is an organisation established by Mahatma Gandhi, who became the founder president of the Sabha, who held the post till his death. The sabha was inaugurated by Annie Besant on 17 June 1918. In 1964, the institution was recognised by the Indian Government as one of the Institutes of National Importance. On their 82nd Convocation Ceremony, 05 January 2019  Dakshina Bharat Hindi Sabha honoured me for my life long contributions to Tamil Literature. Mrs Sushma Swaraj, then  Minister for external affairs presented me a citation and a memento in the presence of Former Supreme Court Judge Justice Dr, Shivraj Patil

Maalan, born in 1950 in Srivilliputhur, Tamil Nadu, emerged as a literary figure with a penchant for poetry. At the age of 16, he made his debut in the literary world through both poetry and prose. From 1970 to 1985, he contributed numerous short stories and poems in literary journals throughout Tamil Nadu.
