SINGAPORE WRITERS ‘WEEK 1995

Writers’ Week ’95 was a program organized by National Arts Council of Singapore ( a government of Singapore organization) and is supported by Singapore Press Holding. Well known fiction writers and poets from Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zeland, Singapore, Taiwan, the United States and United Kingdom were invited and encouraged to share views on literature writing and exchange ideas on writing.

I was one among the two writers invited from India

Following Programs were organized :

Writers’ Forums:

Where in writers will discuss their views on Popular culture and media

Writers’ Readings:

Where poetry and fiction are read off the page

Varsity Readings:

Writers read and discussed their works at National University Of Singapore and at National Institute of Education

Writers’ Talk

Writers talked about their favorite subjects

Writers’ workshop

Writers shared a few tips on creative writing with students

Lunchtime Poetry

Read poems during lunchtime for office goers

Late Night Readings

An open reading session post dinner

I participated in all the above programs and presented my stories and poems at National University of Singapore, National Institute of Education, National Library, Raffles Girls Secondary school and at Olio Dome Café.

Apart from these literary events, I served as a jury for the Golden Point Award (an award presented to the winners of the SPH-NAC National Short story Competition ) That was the first year of the Golden Point Award and I am one of the first juries
