INDIAN READING FRSTIVAL 2003, SINGAPORE

21 June to 29 June 2003

In order to promote and nurture reading culture among Indian Community at Singapore, National Library Board (NLB) organized a 9-day reading festival. One of the major event during the festival was Reading Round the Island, a marathon reading program. A book fair was also organized by NLB

On the last day of the program, a literary conference was organized. Prominent writers from Malaysia, Sri Lanka and India were invited. I was the one invited from India

Maalan, born in 1950 in Srivilliputhur, Tamil Nadu, emerged as a literary figure with a penchant for poetry. At the age of 16, he made his debut in the literary world through both poetry and prose. From 1970 to 1985, he contributed numerous short stories and poems in literary journals throughout Tamil Nadu.
