Sahitya Akademi, the National Akademi of Letters awards best works in all the 22 Indian languages every year. Four categories of awards are given. They are: Sahitya Akademi award, Translation Prize, Yuva Puraskar, Bal Sahitya Puraskar. Apart from these awards Akademi honours scholars with Basha Samman, and grants fellowships
Other than awards Akademi publishes in 22 languages. Both original works and translations are published. Akademi is the biggest publisher in India
To guide in this massive work, Akademi has constituted an Advisory Boards for each language. The board will consist of ten eminent writers appointed by the President of Sahitya Akademi.
I am appointed to the Tamil Advisory Board in the year 2013 by the then Akademi President Prof. Vishwanath Prasad Tiwari for a period of five years. I am again appointed to Tamil Advisory Board by the present President Dr.Chandrasekhra Kambar.
